Coming in April: The Library’s New Catalog, BiblioCommons!

Lake Villa District Library will soon have a new online catalog: BiblioCommons.

This catalog offers you exciting new ways to search for library materials, manage borrowed materials and connect with the LVDL community.

For example, with BiblioCommons, you can:

Rate and comment on books, movies and other library materials
Create lists of favorite books, authors, movies and music to share with the LVDL community or keep private for personal use
Easily explore best sellers, award winners and new items
Connect with other patrons with similar interests in a safe and protected online environment

Patrons will be required to create usernames to access their accounts, place holds and connect with other users if they choose to do so. An email address is required. All user information is still protected, and to enhance privacy, users are encouraged to immediately change their account passwords. Registration is not required for simple searching.

Library to Launch Story Line

Looking to inject a little literature into your child’s day? We’re pleased to announce the launch of Story Line, a service for children to enjoy stories over the phone.

Starting April 1, call into the library at 847-356-7711 after 5:00 p.m., follow the phone prompts, and listen to a 3- to 5-minute story, told by one of the expert storytellers on the LVDL Youth Services staff. Every two weeks we will record a new story for your child to enjoy!

Macy’s Museum Adventure Pass

LVDL card holders can receive free admission or a special discount at 18 exciting museums and cultural institutions throughout the Chicago area. You will need to visit the library to pick up a pass good for one visit in a one-week period for the museum of your choice. The passes are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
